Central Pennsylvania Youth Orchestra
The Music Division at PASCP is The Central Pennsylvania Youth Orchestra (CPYO).
Established in 1991 with the support of the Penn State University School of Music, CPYO is the area’s premiere youth music ensemble, with more than 65 talented young musicians from several counties. The Penn State University School of Music continues to be a strong supporter of CPYO by providing rehearsal and concert facilities, an orchestral library, percussion instruments and concert grand pianos, as well as student mentors who graciously participate in CPYO rehearsals and concerts.
CPYO has two tiers of participation:
- Full Orchestra, which consists of winds, percussion,and more experienced string players;
- Chamber Orchestra, which consists of younger strings seeking orchestral experience.
- Chamber Groups, which consists of players who wish to gain chamber music experience, i.e. quartets and quintets.
Rehearsals will take place on Sundays, Chamber Orchestra will be from 3-5:30pm and CPYO will be from 6-8:30pm.
Membership in CPYO is by audition. To schedule an audition, please contact the front desk at firstname.lastname@example.org
