Central Pennsylvania Youth Orchestra

The Music Division at PASCP is The Central Pennsylvania Youth Orchestra (CPYO).

Established in 1991 with the support of the Penn State University School of Music, CPYO is the area’s premiere youth music ensemble. Recent works include Beethoven’s Allegretto from Symphony No. 7; Bach’s Air from Orchestral Suite No. 3; Rimsky-Korsakov’s Dragonhunter; Vivaldi’s Violin Concerto in F minor, RV 297 “Winter;” and Feese’s Winter Wonderland Suite; among others.

CPYO has three tiers of participation:

  • Chamber String Orchestra, which consists of advancing string players ages 10-18,

  • Symphony Orchestra, which consists of flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons, French horns, trumpets, trombones, tuba, and percussion with the Chamber String Orchestra players.

Membership in CPYO is by audition. All auditions will be virtual and a video copy of the auditions should be embedded into our audition form or emailed directly to PASCP at frontdesk@pascp.org or to Anthony Fortuna, the orchestra director, at afortunaww@gmail.com.
