Central Pennsylvania Youth Orchestra
Established in 1991 with the support of the Penn State University School of Music, CPYO is the area’s premiere youth music ensemble.
CPYO has two tiers of participation:

The Chamber String Orchestra program serves young string players (ranging in age from 10 to 18) seeking to experience their first orchestral training in a nurturing learning environment. This orchestra performs a variety of repertoire ranging from grade 1+.

The Symphony Orchestra Symphony Orchestra consists of flutes, oboes, clarinets, bassoons, French horns, trumpets, trombones, tuba, and percussion with the Chamber String Orchestra players. This program is intended to nurture and train excellent young musicians in the art of orchestral playing. Students will rehearse advanced arrangements and original compositions ranging from grade 3+.
